I use Logic Pro 9 + X since 7 Years. Nowadays I use Logic for Composing + Pre Mix, Pro Tools for the Mixdown + Master and Ableton Live for Live performances.

If you want to learn the magic of mixing + mastering, you got to constantly train your ear. This will be done via several ear training methods. A-B Test's with a Equalizer, Guessing the correct Sinewave Frequency etc. - Pro Tools (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)
 
  Tracking/Micing (Beginner, Intermediate) - Logic - Logic is a simple and yet so complex Software.
